How the Program Works
Energy Wise Rewards is a voluntary peak-energy management program that cycles off and on central air conditioner units and heat pumps over short intervals to help balance the region’s demand for electricity. These conservation periods occur on Peak Savings Days, days when the demand for electricity is highest, typically June through September. Customers choose a web-programmable thermostat or an outdoor switch, which is installed at no charge, and receive bill credits off electricity bills for participating.
During an Energy Wise Rewards conservation period, the air conditioner fan continues to circulate air throughout your facility. Conservation periods usually occur during the cooling season on weekday afternoons, or Peak Savings Days, and typically last from three to six hours. Energy Wise Rewards participants can expect about five Peak Savings Days a year.
